Denton Grant, age 89, of North Port, died on November 13, 2016. He was born in Cleveland, GA on October 31, 1927. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Denton came to Venice in 1947 from Georgia to build the Henry Ranch in Venice. He met his wife, Mary, who predeceased him in 1992, at Dick and Meadows Pharmacy on Venice Avenue. Denton will be remembered as an honest man and a hard worker. Surviving family members include his sons, Allen (Judy) of Venice, Dale of South Venice, and Peanut of Nokomis; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A gathering of friends will be at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel, on Saturday, November 19th, from 10 am - 2 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please make donations to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
