Dewey Watson Kirkland

Dewey Watson Kirkland, 76 Winter HavenDewey Kirkland, a lifelong resident of Winter Haven, passed away June 23, 2016. Dewey was born November 13, 1939, in Bartow, FL to Ethel and Watson Kirkland. He was a retired office manager for Saxon Fruit Company, Triangle Grove Services, and Growers Service. He was a citrus grower with groves in Lake Hamilton and Alturas. Dewey was very active in the bowling community. He was a youth bowling coach at Cypress Lanes and at Winter Haven Christian School. He was very active in the Orange Belt Bowling Association, Center East Zone Bowling Association, and the Florida State Bowling Tournaments. Dewey attended First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake. Dewey is survived by his wife of 57 years Cora Kirkland, 3 children, and 5 grandchildren: Tammie Kirkland; Jeffery Kirkland and his sons Riley, Jared and Josh; and Wyndell Kirkland (Michele) and his daughter Hannah and son John; siblings Carol Kirkland, Jackie Bachman (Ronnie), Kathy Scaife, Shirley Lipscomb, and Jay Hester (Cindy); and 1 sister-in-law, Norma Kirkland. Dewey was preceded in death by his brother Tommy Kirkland. Visitors will be received Saturday, July 2, from 12:00 to 1:00 followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake.
