Dona Jane Jones
June 22nd, 1933 - January 13th, 2023
Dona Jane Jones, age 89, of Venice, Florida, passed away on January 13, 2023. She was born on June 22, 1933 in Morgantown, West Virginia and moved to Venice in 1987 from Westland, Michigan. Dona lived in the Venice, Florida Bird Bay Village Community for almost 36 years and was very active and involved. She was known as the First Lady of Bird Bay Phase II. Dona also volunteered at the Sarasota/Bradenton Airport for over 20 years. She was a great asset to the community, and she was very much loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children; Debra, Russell Crouch, Diane, Gary Schulte, Cynthia, Duncan Millar, James Jones, Susan, Randall Comben and Jennifer Morgan. Dona also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jane Huston; her brother, Joseph D. Williams and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Haag. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, 10:00AM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 508 Riviera Street in Venice with a reception to follow at the Bird Bay Clubhouse, 606 Bird Bay Drive South in Venice. Memorial donations may be made to the National MS Society, Parkinson’s Foundation, Shriners Hospital, Tunnel to Tower Foundation or to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
