December 7th, 1949 - July 25th, 2009
Beloved husband of Dolores; father of Glory Platt (Murray), Julie Lou, David (Donna), Debbie, Sherry Held (Mark). Grandfather of Grant & Trevor Platt, brother of Robert (deceased), Howard. Don was born on December 7, 1949 in Chicago, IL. He was a charter member of the Colorado Society of Safety Engineers; member of the Beet Sugar Technical Society; member of the board of Red Rocks Community College advisory board. Retiring from GW sugar company in 1983 where he served as the head of Safety & Health, he became an avid history buff and spent thirteen years on the Jefferson County Historical Commission serving as Chairman and assistant chairman. Secretary of the Rocky Mountain chapter of the Professional guides associatio of America. Member of the Denver Westerners 1997-2002; Ken-Caryl Ranch Historical Society 1996 to present: American Legion, Leyden-Chiles Post #1. He was instrumental in saving the historic Bradford Perley House, a designated historic site. His many contributions to Jefferson County led to his selection as the county recipient of the Hall of Fame award in 2005. He volunteered at the University of Colorado Denver assisting foreign students in learning American English for four years. Mr. Ebner passed away on July 25, 2009. A Memorial service will be held at St. Philip Lutheran Church, 7531 S Kendall Blvd Littleton, CO 80128-7060 on Friday, July 31, 4:30 PM.
