Donald "Don" Harry Fahrenkrug
October 20th, 1940 - February 13th, 2020
MEMORY ETERNAL!Don was born in Neenah, Wisconsin on October 20, 1940 to Harry Otto and Verna Elsie (Lenz) Fahrenkrug. He had one older brother, James Harry Fahrenkrug. He peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on February 13, 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He spent his childhood in Neenah where his father owned a tavern on the lake. Due to his mother's health concerns, the family moved to Colorado to take advantage of the temperate climate.Don graduated from Manitou Springs High School and married Joan Marie Halloway.He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Ann Barber and Susan Darlene Harvey; stepson, Scott Christopher Fahrenkrug; granddaughters, Caitlin (Barber) Shannon and Meghan (Barber) Duncan; and great-granddaughters, Sloan Elise and Sage Elizabeth Duncan.Don delivered newspapers as a young man then went on to explore several different careers in his lifetime including a police officer, a newspaper print shop technician, a delivery driver for a local dairy, a long-haul truck driver, he sold a variety of products door-to-door and spent time working for an insurance company. Don loved to drive and his favorite job of all was delivering cars for local automobile dealerships. Don had a great sense of humor and was especially generous. He loved to watch sports, play chess, listen to classical music and was an avid reader of historical, political, philosophical and theological books.He attended several local churches throughout his life but found his home and spent his remaining days as a member of the Orthodox Christian Church. Visitation, 8:00AM-10:00AM, Funeral Service immediately following, 10:00AM, Thursday, February 20, 2020, Holy Theophany Orthodox Church, 2770 North Chestnut Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. Don will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Old Colorado City where his father, mother and brother were previously laid to rest.
