Donald A. Laraway

Donald A. Laraway, age 86, of Venice, FL, died on July 15, 2006. He was born in Sidney, NY on January 24, 1920, and came to Venice from Unadilla, NY in 1998. He was a manufacturing engineer for Bendix in Sidney, NY for 41 years before retiring in 1981. Mr. Laraway served as Town Justice in Unadilla for 26 years, and was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran. He was an Honorary Life Member of the American Legion Charles L. Jacobi Post #183 in Sidney for 61 years where he served as an officer for Post, County, District, State, and National levels. He also was a Life Member and Past Master of the Sidney Masonic Lodge #801, and Charter, Life, and 63 year Member of the Sidney Elks Club #2175. Surviving family members include his wife of 44 years, Wilma Breslin Laraway of Venice, FL; their son Dennis Lee Laraway and wife Diane, and their children Amanda Lee Laraway and Tiffany and Jennifer Plestis of Scottsdale, Arizona; son Robert E. Foree, Jr. and fianc� Mary Tynan and children Michael, Megan, and Caithlin Haven of Liverpool, NY; daughter Linda Laraway Scott and husband Gary Scott of Sidney, NY, and their children Corey Scott Bebarta and husband Vik Bebarta of San Antonio, Texas, and son Christopher Scott and his wife Dana Martin of Baltimore, MD; daughter Carolyn Laraway Gelo of Bainbridge, NY, and her children Dawn Bergman of Deposit, NY, Ronald Spencer of Long Island, NY, Michael and his wife Toni Spencer of Walton, NY and Debra and husband Greg Comen of Branford, CT; sister Helene and husband Gene Hroncich of Venice, FL; sister Marian Hinkley and husband Tom Egnaczak of Sidney, NY; and brother Raymond Laraway and wife Charlotte of Sidney, NY. He was predeceased by his parents William H. and Bernice Case Laraway, and also by his brothers Clifford, Cecil, Robert, Lee, and Glen Laraway and by sister Florence Perry. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the Masonic Temple on Union Street in Sidney, NY on Saturday, August 5th. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Legion Post #183 for Donald A.
