Donna Marie Hall, 71, of Carlton, died unexpectedly Friday, October 9, 2009 in Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, Arizona. Although her illness was brief, her fight was valiant. Donna was born in 1938 in Iverson, MN to Joseph and Laura Schmitz and was raised by her grandparents, Nellie and Edmund Casey. She married Ronald Hall on November 3, 1956 in Cloquet. Donna graduated from Fond du Lac Community College with a liberal arts degree. She was a member of AA with 26 years of sobriety. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debera Paulson-Hall; her great granddaughter, Jada Paulson and two brothers, Walter and Donald Schmitz. Donna is survived by her husband, Ronald, of Carlton; four daughters, Diana (Scott) Johnson of Staples, MN, Roni Young of Esko, Dena (Rod) Stanchfield of Wayzata and Darla Hall of Yuma, AZ; 12 grandchildren and two brothers, William (Ruth) Schmitz of Aurora, MN and Willard (Diane) Schmitz of Duluth. Memorial Services were held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet, followed by a luncheon in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
