Doris Louise DeLong WEST COLUMBIA: Service for Doris Louise DeLong, 85, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012, at City of Hope Worship Center, officiated by Rev. Neal Nolan. Entombment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to City of Hope Worship Center, 1403 D Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. DeLong, widow of Donald Lee Delong, after 57 years of marriage, passed peacefully into Heaven Friday, January 20, 2012. Born in Landis, NC, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Lee Yates and Annie Mae Clampet Yates. Formerly of Kannapolis/Concord, NC she had been a resident here since 1973. She was a member of the Pug Dog Club of America. Mrs. DeLong was a member of the Beach House Golf and Racket Club. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher. She loved playing games and enjoyed watching people. She was a wonderful mother and a faithful friend. A vibrant, happy, loving and care free person, she will be greatly missed. Surviving are her daughters, Wendy DeLong Daley (David) and Kathy DeLong -Anson (Bob); eight grandchildren, Harrison, Dillon, Logan and Isaiah Daley and Randall and Kenny Cartner, Amanda DuBose Oswalt and Greg DuBose; one great grandchild, Sophie Cartner; also her pugs, Bridgette and Gracie.
