Doris Meacham Whitfield
September 4th, 1932 - July 9th, 2017
Doris Meacham Whitfield, 84, of Sandy Run, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 9, 2017. She was born in Chatham County, NC to the late Auburn and Annie Belle Meacham. Mrs. Whitfield is survived by her loving children, Ed Whitfield (Diane) of Chapel Hill NC; Norman Whitfield (Lucy) of Cary, NC and Hilda Whitfield Wynn of Sandy Run; four grandchildren, Eddie Whitfield (Cherelle) of Silk Hope NC, Auburn Whitfield Glenn (John) of Youngsville, NC, Brian Whitfield (Sarah) of Sugar Mountain NC and Helen Whitfield Bass (Jamey) of Cary NC; eight great grandchildren, Ashley Montrose Atkinson (Marshall), Tyler Montrose, Carter, Cooper and Hudson Bass, Lucy Clay Whitfield, Haley and Abbie Glenn; one great-great grandchild, Brantley Atkinson; her siblings, Barbara (Garrett) Meacham Johnson of Candor, NC, Bruce (Patsy) Meacham of Burlington, NC and Trish (Lealon) Meacham McLeod of Inman, SC. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Albert Whitfield; her siblings, Frances Meacham Sparrow, Winifred Meacham and Betty Meacham Fox. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Beulah United Methodist Church. Burial will follow service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah United Methodist Church building fund, 1577 Old State Road Sandy Run, Gaston, SC 29053.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years.
