Dorothy Franklin Bell, 96, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at The Summit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ross Bell. Born January 8, 1927, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Janie W. Franklin. Dorothy was retired from a nursing career at Virginia Baptist Hospital, The Florence Crittenton Home and lastly Lynchburg Training Center as a registered nurse. She was a member of North Bedford Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn B. Dixon (Tom) of Lynchburg and Pat B. Lea of Rhode Island; two sons, Timothy Bell (Lisa) and Tom Bell, all of Virginia Beach; one devoted and loving and caregiving sister, Betty F. Stinnett; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm today (Sat. Dec.23, 2023) at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm in the chapel with the Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. Interment will be in Virginia Memorial Park.
