For over two centuries, Diuguid Funeral Services & Crematory has been a steadfast provider of comfort and care to the Lynchburg community. Our tenure as the oldest funeral home in Virginia and the second oldest in the United States is a testament to our enduring commitment. Originating from humble beginnings, our founder Sampson Diuguid, a skilled furniture maker from Appomattox, transformed his craft into a mission of service that has stood the test of time.
Embracing both our rich heritage and the evolving needs of our community, we have recently undergone a full renovation. Our facilities have been meticulously updated to better serve families with modern amenities and comforts. The funeral home, easily accessible and a recognizable fixture in the area, now includes an on-property cafe for the convenience of the families we serve and ample parking to accommodate guests during services and visitations.
While we hold a special place in our hearts for veterans and the unique tributes they deserve, our services encompass a broad spectrum of options for burial and cremation, each tailored to honor the individuality of the lives we celebrate. - Removal and local transportation of your loved one to the crematory (within 25 miles).
- Care of your loved one until cremation is complete.
- Cremation process and return of ashes.
- Consultation with responsible party for final arrangements.
- All the necessary permits and authorizations.
- Free self-service online obituary.
- Many other optional services available - including celebration of life event planning, traditional funeral service, on-site catering, scattering assistance, and more - at additional charge.
- Prices do not include urn or other merchandise, cash advances, filing fees, or death certificates. Please see complete price list for additional details and exclusions.
Burial Services Starting At
- Price is for burial with no visitation or formal services and ceremonies. Does not include casket, outer burial container, or cemetery costs.
- Includes all of the essential services of the funeral director and staff.
- Removal of your loved one as well as local transportation to the cemetery for burial (within 25 miles).
- Care of your loved one until burial is complete. Family not present with timing at the discretion of the funeral home.
- Consultation with responsible party for final arrangements.
- All the necessary permits and authorizations.
- Free self-service online obituary.
- Many other optional services available - including celebration of life event planning, traditional funeral service, on-site catering, police escort to the gravesite, and more - at additional charge.
