Dorothy (Ann) Lewis Brandt, 6/30/24 ? 10/13/2011, was born in Shotton, Wales. Surviving ?Miss Ann? are Fred, her husband of 67 years; 7 children, Maureen (Arthur) Campbell, Deborah (Eber) Henderson, Pamela Brandt, Denise Haley, Lisa Brandt-Pruitt, Fred J. Brandt, II, Norma (Cliff) Ridgeway; 2 sisters, June Mills and Betty Emerson; a sister-in-law, Norma Kane; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Jason Michael Campbell. Ann married Fred, a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army, on July 11, 1944, in London, England. On January 25, 1946 Ann and her infant daughter, Maureen, boarded the S.S. Argentina at Southampton, England sailing to Philadelphia, PA, to make a life and home here in the U.S. Ann was the epitome of a military wife ? beginning her packing the day Fred received his orders for another assignment and unpacking the day their belongings arrived, making a home for her family at every post. Home for the past 37 years has been Columbia, SC. ?Miss Ann? worked at Cambridge Hall Pre-school for over 15 years, nurturing and loving the many children who came through their doors. In addition to working and maintaining a home, Miss Ann volunteered as a seamstress for many years with the Columbia City Ballet. Ann, who was truly a lady, leaves a legacy of love, faithfulness and loyalty and will be missed by the many whose lives she touched in her 87 years of life. A memorial service, open to all, for Dorothy (Ann) Lewis Brandt, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.
