Dorothy B. Garland, also commonly referred to as Vie, Cousin Dorothy, Aunt Dorothy, and Aunt Vie was born on August 2nd, 1937 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. She passed away on December 15th, 2023 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 86. Dorothy spent most of her adulthood in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at West Penn Hospital. When Dorothy was not working, she spent most of her time traveling, spending time with friends, volunteering at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), coordinating and organizing family reunions, and going to the casino. She had a passion for theatre, arts, crafts, music, and dancing. In 2017, Dorothy moved to Colorado Springs after her husband John Garland passed away. She came to Colorado to live with her sister-in-law and her husband. She was also able to spend a lot of quality time with her nieces and great-niece. During her time here in Colorado Springs, Dorothy had the opportunity to travel to new places like Denver, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. She also had the opportunity to explore different venues, eat at new, exciting restaurants, and develop new friendships with those in the community. Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother; Dorothy Keen, her father; Calvin Brown, her sister; Sarah Brown, her husband; John Garland, her sisters-in-law; May Harris and Marlyn Brown, her niece; Claudine Mitchell, and many more beloved family members.
