Our beautiful Mother, Mom, Grandma and best friend passed away peacefully on October 28, 2015 surrounded and loved by close family. She was born January 17, 1922 in Portland, Oregon to parents Frank and Margaret Reiner. She attended a Catholic Grade School as well as Llewellyn Grade School and Washington High School. She graduated early and went to work. She met our Dad, Larry, known as Scotty to her family, on a matchup date where they both worked on the old Film Row. Early on, Dot, as she was known by, loved animals, especially dogs, horses, wolves and canaries. The Hunt family started with Collies but she got her first German shepherd, Cindi, in May of 1959 and had 3 more Shepherds over the years. She got her first horse from her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mark, and had riding lessons so she could ride. Mom enjoyed the outdoors, such as, walking (she did – 100 volkwalks which were 10k each) hiking, biking and later backpacking and cross country skiing. In the early 1950’s she took sewing lessons and learned to crochet and she did several quilts. In 1963 she sewed her daughter Barbara’s prom dress. Mom and Dad bought a van and took many trips to the mountains in the Northwest Territories and Calgary Canada, Utah, California and Arizona, etc. They also, especially Mom, enjoyed the bus group rides to Nevada to do some gambling. Over the years she was an Assistant Brownie Leader and joined Cascade Obedience Club and the German Shepherd Dog Club of Oregon. She was the newsletter writer/editor for several years for the Dog Club. Mom also joined a Garden Club and was in a Bunco and Sewing Club for many years. She also liked Bingo, Dominoes and Quidler. She was always ready to help with smiles and hugs. She was known as the “Hugger” for many years. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and she was always doing up the house and later her apartment with precious decorations. Mom, Dot, Grandma, Sister and Friend, you are already missed by so very many. You are our Sunshine. Service Information

Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home

At Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, we have a rich history dating back to 1901 when we became the first crematory west of the Mississippi River, known then as The Portland Cremation Association. Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
