Douglas William Bachman

Douglas William Bachman, resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado since 1985, passed away August 17, 2022, at Fountain View Care Facility.Doug was born October 13, 1944 to Elton and Eleanor (Nauman) Bachman in Peoria, Illinois.Doug graduated from Metamora Township High School in 1962, and then served in the United States Army from 1962-1965 spending most of the time in Germany. He was an active member of American Legion Post 89 in Metamora, Illinois. He worked as a machinist for Flynn Drainage Company in Metamora, Illinois and assistant maintenance supervisor at Catholic Social Service in Peoria, Illinois before moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Until retirement, Doug did handyman and maintenance work.Doug enjoyed woodworking and building things for his granddaughters. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He loved singing and making people laugh. His legacy will live on with the many skills and "Dougisms" he shared with us.He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and several nieces and nephews.He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Marian Schoon Bachman; children, David and Debbie (Chris Welch); two granddaughters, Christina (Will Fogel) and Cameron; five sisters; one brother; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside Service, 2:00PM, Friday, September 9, 2022, Pikes Peak National Cemetery Columbarium, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
