They met while students at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO where they each earned their BS degree in Education. After several years of teaching, Glen was appointed a school superintendent position in Pitman, NJ and spent the next 34 years as a superintendent in Pitman, Gloversville, NY, North Rockland, NY and Tenafly, NJ. He also served as a BOCES Superintendent in New York state. During his career, he earned his Master of Science in Education and his Doctor of Education from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1989, Glen was listed in The Executive Educator as “One hundred of North America’s best and brightest school executives.” He loved the field of education and believed that every child should have equal opportunity to achieve their dream. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Barbara, moved to Heron Creek Golf & Country Club in North Port, FL where they lived for 15 years before moving to Venice. Glen was one of 7 children born to Leon and Birdie Everhart of Martinsburg, WV. All are predeceased except Donald who lives in Bunker Hill, WV. His siblings include Frances (Evelyn), Leon (Gertrude), Phyllis (Rev. James) Cheshier, Donald (Dorothy), Sara (Rev. Bill) Swain and Steve (Dale). They all attended the Martinsburg public schools. Glen is survived by his wife, Barbara and two children, Wayne Glen (Ruth) and Rebecca Martin. They have three grandchildren, Jesse Martin, Rachel (Jacob) Watson and Matthew Everhart. In April they were happy to welcome their first great grandson, Isaiah Watson. While Glen was a terrific adult Sunday School Teacher and served on church boards, he particularly enjoyed singing in the church choirs by adding his voice to the high tenors.
