Dr. James Michael Wolford
November 10th, 1944 - March 18th, 2022
Dr. James M. Wolford (Mike) died on March 18, 2022 in Columbia, SC. He was 77. Dr. Wolford was born in 1944 in Evansville, IN to his parents, Paul Wolford and Mildred (Sands) Wolford. He received both his undergraduate and Master’s degree in Psychology from Indiana University. Dr. Wolford served in the Adjutant General's Corps of the Army before receiving his PhD in Psychology from the University of Missouri. Dr. Wolford taught Psychology at the University of Miami (FL) before moving to Columbia, SC to establish the Columbia Vet Center. He served as the Director and specialized in counseling veterans and their families. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Clark-Wolford of Charleston, SC. Dr. Wolford is survived by his son, James Brian Wolford of Cayce, SC; his daughter, Kate Eckard of Columbia, SC; and his grandson, Coley Eckard of Columbia, SC. Dr. Wolford will be buried in a private ceremony on April 7, 2022 at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to PTSDUSA.org.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
