Duane "Johnny" Rengo, 68, of Esko, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. Johnny was born in 1941 in Duluth to Edward and Ethel Rengo. He was a 1959 graduate of Floodwood High School and attended WITC and UMD. Johnny married his wife, Brenda, on December 7, 1985 in Superior, WI. Johnny worked as a sheet metal worker until retiring in 1993. Most recently, he was a delivery driver for LTC Providers in Proctor. He was a member of AFL-CIO Sheet Metal Union, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Esko and the NRA. An avid Viking fan, Johnny also enjoyed hunting, farming, splitting wood, cooking and baking. His specialties of homemade pies, wild rice soup and his own famous coney sauce were enjoyed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lorraine Swain. Johnny will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of Esko; two daughters, Stacey Rengo-Abrego of Oak Park Heights, MN and Laura Crowell (Wendell Ferguson) of Atlanta, GA; four sons, Ryan (Sue) Rengo of Cottage Grove, MN, Jason Rengo of Esko, Cody Rengo of San Jose, CA and Lucas Crowell of Duluth; a step-son, Brad (Carisa) Davis of San Jose, CA; one brother, Allen (Lois) Rengo of Bellevue, NE; four sisters, Elaine (Louis) Helmer of Belle Fourche, SD, Phyllis Koskela of Mecklenburg, NY, Sharon (Ron) Grant of Carlotta, CA and Gail (Dale) Reimer of Mound, MN; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Esko. Memorials are preferred.
