Edith Healy of Westminster, Colorado, passed away on February 28, 2019, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter J. Healy Jr. and granddaughter, Karen Diane. Survived by six children, Patricia (Chuck) Rosebrook of Conifer, Colorado, Michael (Ruth) Healy of Denver, Colorado, William (Diana) Healy of Sterling, Illinois, Sharon (Aron) Kriss of Fort Collins, Colorado, Christine (Christopher) Shephard of Lakewood, Colorado and Douglass (Cheri) Healy of Westminster, Colorado. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Edith was born on July 9, 1928, on a farm off of 72nd and Sheridan to Edwin and Bessie Phillips. She was the youngest of five children, all of whom have preceded her in death. She attended Union School in Westminster then moved to Denver. She then attended West High School where she was a Drum Majorette and graduated in 1946. After graduation, Edith applied to become a flight attendant but was too tall to get the job! She met the love of her life, Walter, while a Drum Majorette for the Cootie Club Marching Band while he was in the Navy. So began their 38-year marriage. Edith was a Navy wife and sacrificed almost as much as Walt, making their home in Colorado, Tennessee, California and Washington State. After their retirement from serving our country for 22 years, they moved the family back to Westminster, Colorado in 1969. She was a hard-working housewife with the patience of a saint. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh! She loved unconditionally and was humble and kind. Edith was a dedicated member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 40 plus years. She was a member of the Westminster Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed frequently volunteering as an election judge. Everyone who met Edith will never forget her beautiful smile and gentle spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends! A Celebration of Life will take place on April 6th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Westminster Elks Lodge #2227 located at 3850 Elk Drive, Westminster, CO 80030. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Edith Healy’s name to Dignity Hospice. Please send checks to Dignity Hospice 400 East 84th Ave., Suite W-202, Thornton CO 80229.
