Edward J. Carpenter, age 77, of North Port and Warwick, RI died on February 27, 2006. He was born June 26, 1928 in North Providence, RI and lived in Cumberland for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was the owner-operator of Four Corners Auto in Pawtucket for 34 years. He was a member of the La Casa Billiards Club, the Computer Club, and sang with the Voices of La Casa. He was a former member of the Choir of Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda, FL. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anne DeCiantis Carpenter; his daughter Carole-Anne Maxwell of Cranston, RI; 3 sons Edward, Jr., David, and Scott all of Cumberland, RI; 9 grandchildren and 2 step-grandsons; brother Richard Carpenter of North Providence. He was predeceased by his brothers Normand, Raymond, George & Robert and by his sisters Gloria Provonsil and Clarice Martella. Mr. Carpenter was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving for 4 years in the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be held in the Chapel of San Pedro Catholic Church on Thursday, March 2, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 3, 2006 11:00 AM at San Pedro Catholic Church. Memorial Donations may be made in his memory to San Pedro Youth Center Building Fund, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL 34287 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, FL 33742.
