Elaine Hite Walker McGraw of Lexington went home on May 26, 2015. She was the born on July 10, 1924 in West Columbia, SC to the late Lottie Maude Bachman Hite and Daniel Abram Hite. In addition to having jobs outside the home, she was an incredible role model and mother. In the next season of her life she tirelessly worked at G Weber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital as a mental Health Specialist and this sort of sums it up after retirement: To quote her supervisor, "I respect and appreciate your contribution to the care of patients over the years you worked for the department. There are never material rewards for kindness, attention to the needs of others, loyalty, consistency, etc…, but you must know that all those things made hospitalization for hundreds of people a little better. You did touch the lives of many, many patients! Also, I will always treasure your loyalty to me during the turmoil here. Thank you!" Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Keith Earl McGraw, Sr.; sister, Mary Rentz; daughter, Janet Lane Walker; stepson, Keith E. "Kem" McGraw, Jr.; stepdaughter, Bridgett Jones (Barney); grandchildren, Abbie L. Cochran (Chuck), William Sean Walker, Jodi Walker (Steven), Ashland Walker and Jessi McGraw (Beth); 6 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Woodrow Walker; and son, Edward William Walker. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia to remember Elaine as she continues to give by donating her body to the USC School of Medicine. Memorials may be made to Oliver Gospel Mission, PO Box 7697, Columbia, SC 29202; Kidney Foundation, 508 Hampton St., Columbia, SC 29201; American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Dr., Cayce, SC 29033 or a charity of your choice. Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
