Eleanor Viola Peterson

Eleanor Viola Peterson, 87 of Cloquet, died Monday, May 14, 2007 in Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital. She was born in 1919 and was a 1937 graduate of Cloquet High School and attended Duluth State Teachers College. Eleanor married Robert L. Peterson on July 6, 1946 in Cloquet. She taught school for 11 years in the communities of East Lake, Braham, Moose Lake and Cloquet. Following her marriage, she raised her family and assisted her husband in the family business, Robert Peterson Plumbing/Heating. Eleanor was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cloquet. She loved taking care of her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and at the family's cabin. Eleanor will fondly be remembered as an excellent cook and for her love of flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lyla Kalli and Ruth Johnson and three brothers, Toivo Johnson, Charles Johnson and Elmer Johnson. Eleanor is survived by her husband of nearly 61 years, Robert L. Peterson of Cloquet; two children, Dr. Robert K. (Carole) Peterson of Edina and Lenore "Penny" (Dr. Edward) LaMotta of Ft. Myers, FL; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Michael Peterson; a sister, Aili Juola of Cloquet; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Johnson of Falcon Heights, MN and Beatrice (Roy) Hagen of Cloquet and a brother-in-law, Roger A. Peterson of Cloquet. The family would like to thank Dr. Vicki Anderson and the staff of Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care of Eleanor. Memorial Services were held on Saturday, May 19, 2007 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
