Pastor Elias Gonzales 85, of Littleton, Colorado was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on November 9, 2022 after complications from a leg injury. Pastor Gonzales was born on February 16, 1937 in Farmington, New Mexico to Pastor Fidel Gonzales and Preciliana Archunde Gonzales. He graduated in 1962 from LABI college in La Puente, California where he met Esther Gamez ("Lovey") who became his wife of 49 years. Together they served in ministry in New Mexico, Grand Junction, Colorado, and Denver Colorado. It was in Denver, Pastor Gonzales served as lead pastor for 34 years at Healing Waters Ministries, formerly known as First Spanish Assembly of God and Healing Waters Family Center. Among his many accomplishments, "Pastor G." was recognized on May 31, 2021 by the Fellowship of the General Council of the Assemblies of God by the General Presbytery for having served fifty years as an ordained minister. He was also recognized as having served on the Evangel University Board of Directors for fifteen years. Pastor G. was invited to Washington D.C. for the annual Minister's Prayer Breakfast and in July 2011 he gave a benediction at the inauguration of Denver Mayor, Michael B. Handcock. His noteworthy career includes numerous appearances and honors presented by ministry orgaizations and local communities for his esteemed service. Pastor G. was known for his storytelling, his great sense of humor, and his heart of gold. So many will attest to his dedicating them as a baby, performing their baptism, marriage ceremony and then dedicating their own children. He never hesitated to help a family in need and offer prayer and counseling. He shared Jesus with everyone he met and loved unconditionally. There are many people serving Jesus today because of his influence as his ministry has spanned generations. Pastor Gonzales is survived by his three sons Eli, Martin and Jason, his two daughters-in-law, Amy and Abby and his three grandchildren, Ethan, Bailee and Maximus. He is survived by his siblings and their spouse, Isaac & Cecilia Gonzales, Karen Tallman, Earnest & Rita Gonzales, Ray and Donna Vielpando, Steve Colunga, Ted & Kim Colunga. He is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Gonzales and by his second wife, Mary Sadie Gonzales. He is preceded in death by his siblings and their spouse Alice Colunga, Robert & Lila Gonzales, Daniel and Cordy Gonzales, Clyde and Marilyn Gonzales, Frank and Mae Silva, and Jake Gonzales. A Celebration of Life for Pastor Elias Gonzales will be held at New Hope Ministries 875 S. Sheridan Blvd. Lakewood, CO 80226 on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM.
