Elizabeth D. Guerrero
January 17th, 1926 - September 4th, 2017
Elizabeth D. Guerrero, 91, a 53-year resident of Marina, died at home surrounded by her loving family on September 4, 2017, following a long period of declining health. Born Elizabeth ("Liz") Demacose on January 17, 1926, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Liz was a life-long homemaker and a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Marina. Liz loved spending time with her family, making everyone feel at home and always making sure they had something to eat whenever visiting. Among her interests, Liz enjoyed visiting casinos near and far. Her life-long hobby was crocheting, and was always creating various bedding items and related products for her extended family. She was also an avid bowler in her younger days. Liz loved Hawaiian music and the Hawaiian culture, and instilled those values in her children. Elizabeth is survived by her children Madeline (James) Corpuz of San Fernando Valley, CA; Melvin (Diane) Fernandez of Navarre, FL; Mervin (Brigitte) Fernandez of Tucson, AZ; Cecilia (Carl) Thormeyer of Marina, CA; and Vernon (Jean) Fernandez, of Seaside, CA; as well as 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful canine companion Princess. She was preceded in death by her husband Francisco E. Guerrero, parents Jose and Mary Demacose, brothers John Fernandez, Albert Fernandez, Jimmy Fernandez, Manuel Fernandez, William Demacose, and sister Mary Yadao. The family extends a special thank you to all of the family, friends, VNA Hospice team, and caregivers for their endless love, kindness, and support, especially Ms. Marquita Johnson of VNA. Elizabeth was especially grateful for her oldest grandchild, Kathy Corpuz, who cared for her during her final years. Donations in Elizabeth's memory may be sent to Central Coast VNA & Hospice, or to Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula.
