Being centrally located on the Monterey Peninsula and adjacent to the San Carlos and Monterey City Cemeteries, Mission Mortuary has been the premier funeral home choice for Monterey and the entire Monterey Bay Peninsula for many years. Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946 at a location on Munras Avenue in Monterey and moved to our current location on Camino El Estero in 1952. While times certainly have changed, Mission Mortuary has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of our families.
Walking distance to the Pacific Ocean, our facility has spaces both large and small to accommodate a wide range of gatherings, from a handful of friends and family to a large crowd. Some say our catering service rivals a fine dining restaurant and all families can make use of our “Memories Cafe.”
From ground burial to cremation memorialization, we provide a wide variety of options to meet your needs at our Mission Memorial Park in nearby beautiful Seaside.We blend decades of tradition with contemporary services to offer a sanctuary of peace and a celebration of life, ensuring every memory is honored and every farewell is made memorable, right here in the heart of the Monterey Peninsula.

Burial Services Starting At
$3,650
- Price is for burial with no visitation or formal services and ceremonies. Does not include casket, outer burial container, or cemetery costs.
- Includes all of the essential services of the funeral director and staff;
- Removal of your loved one as well as transportation to the cemetery for burial (within a 50 mile radius during business hours).
- Care of your loved one until burial is complete. Date and time of burial determined by the funeral director.
- Consultation with responsible party for final arrangements.
- All the necessary permits and authorizations.
- Free self-service online obituary.
- Many other optional services available - including celebration of life event planning, traditional funeral service, on-site catering, police escort to the gravesite, and more - at additional charge.

- Care of your loved one until cremation is complete.
- Cremation process and return of ashes.
- Consultation with responsible party for final arrangements.
- All the necessary permits and authorizations.
- Free self-service online obituary.

Our family experienced an unimaginable few months, losing all three of my grandparents within a short span. During this time, we turned to Mission Mortuary, and we are truly grateful for their compassion and professionalism through each service.
The first time we worked with them was for my paternal grandfather. My father and his siblings handled most of the arrangements.
Shortly after, my maternal grandparents passed away, and my mother and I worked closely with Emma. She showed us genuine kindness and understanding, walking us through every step with patience and grace. Her warmth made an incredibly painful time a little more bearable.
We used Mission Mortuary three times in three months, and each time, we were treated with care, dignity, and respect. Thank you, Emma and team, for helping us honor our loved ones with such compassion.
