Elmer Meacham
August 8th, 1940 - September 3rd, 2009
After battling a long term illness Elmer Leroy Meacham passed away at home Thursday, September 3, 2009. He was 69 years old. Elmer was born on August 8, 1940 to Elmer and Donna Meacham in Lincoln, Nebraska. Elmer joined the Army in 1957 and was a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. After he left the Army he met and married the love of his life of 47 years. Elmer spent most of his life self-employed in the auto body and drilling industry. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed drag racing his truck. Elmer also loved to go camping, fishing and boating. His greatest love however was his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Linda of 47 years and his children; daughters’ Cindy (Joe)Bumbal, Kimberly Landowski, Donna (Randy) Wood; Granddaughters’’ Melissa (Ben) Leerssen, Kaitlyn Landowski; two Great Grandchildren, Braden and Brody Leerssen; Brother James Meacham and Sister Judy Wills and many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his Brother, Richard Meacham. Elmer has taken the checkered flag for the last time in the race of life but you can bet that he is up there in heaven talking to Dale Earnhart about how to build a faster race car. Services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009, 12:30 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area B. The family would like to invite everyone to a reception after the services to celebrate Elmer’s life.
