August 8th, 1939 - September 11th, 2018
Emmie Knight Smith, age 79, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living, Columbia, SC. Born in Honea Path, SC, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Jennie Knight and was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth D. Smith. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Mike) Posey and Wanda (Don) Goff, and her son, Mike (Mandy) Smith; seven grandchildren; Natasha O’Quinn, Chad (Megan) Posey, Marshall (Heather) Goff, Morgan (Ashton) Goff, Katherine Smith, Rachel Knight, and Michael Smith, Jr.; four great-grandchildren; Sydney O’Quinn, Landon O’Quinn, Abigail Goff, and Jude Goff; and numerous other family members and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Brookdale Senior Living for the friendship and care extended to Emmie and her family. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, September 18 at 10 am at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, (Leesburg Road) in Columbia with the funeral service at 11 am in the chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. In the case of continued inclement weather friends and family are requested to contact Thompson Funeral Home or the family for further details.
