Eric Scott Curtis

Eric Curtis was born on September 16, 1982 in Hempstead, New York and placed in foster care at birth. At 15 months of age he was adopted by Ms. Helen Curtis. Eric and his mother were very close, both enjoyed attending church where Eric sang in the choir. At the age of 7 Eric became big brother to his adopted sister, Kimberly. He loved to praise the Lord and was baptized at the age of 9. During the summer months he attended camp and visited his grandmother. At the age of 12 Eric became the stepson of Deacon Johnny Brown and the family moved from Queens, New York to Miami, Florida. He graduated from Miami Senior High School, after graduating Eric became employed by the board of education and worked in the school cafeteria of an elementary school. Eric and his family lived in Miami for 9 years. In 2003 the family moved to Central Florida and approximately 6 months after his parents moved to Kissimmee, Eric joined his parents, he lived and worked in Orlando. While he attended he Hope Church and sang in the choir. He was baptized again at the age of 24. In 2004 Eric moved to Lakeland and attended Mt. Sinai Primitive Baptist Church and sang in the choir.. Eric passed away after a long illness. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him – his father, Minister Johnny Brown; his sister, Kimberly Brannon; his cousin, Frank Fernandez, Sr. and many other cousins and friends. Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Helen F. Curtis-Brown; uncles, Clyde, John, Paul, James Fernandez; and a special cousin, Frank Fernandez, Jr. A Repast will be held at Golden Corral on Highway 98 North in Lakeland, Florida.
