Erma M. Jewell
August 17th, 1916 - April 3rd, 2004
Erma M. Hills Jewell, 87, passed away April 3, 2004 after a short illness. She was born August 17, 1916 in Preston, Idaho, to Lorin William Merkley and Martha Smith Merkley. She has lived in Arizona since 1942. She married Harry F. Hills Nov. 22, 1940 in the Mesa LDS Temple. He passed away Mar. 6, 1971. She then married Jim Jewell Feb. 18, 1978. He passed away Feb. 28, 2000. Erma was a devoted office manager for Richard G. Johnson, attorney, for 54 years. She is survived by her siblings: Iola Gray, Leo & Wayne Merkley, and Ruth Tiffany. Preceded in death by brothers Emmett, Neal, and Zane Merkley. She is also survived by stepsons Ernest Jewell, Calvin Jewell, and James Jewell and their families. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church Centerview Ward, 15 West 1st Ave, Mesa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Mesa City Cemetery.
