Dr. Ernest E. Goodwin, DD aka Nayya Wakiyl El in the Moorish - American Community passed on to his higher life on December. HE leaves his wife/mate Vergeena K. Goodwin and six children, Terry V. Goodwin, Thuy L. Goodwin of Baltimore, MD, Ivonne J. Goodwin, Alberta S. Goodwin, Malik A. Goodwin, of Columbia, and Qaa'im A. Goodwin Greenville. Also surviving are two sisters, Marcella R. Butler, Sedalia, MO, Velma L. Lee, Knob Noster, MO; sister in law, Ester Goodwin, Marietta, GA; and soul sister - longtime friend, Yolanda Simons, of Columbia; three brothers, Pastor Eliza and Donald Goodwin, of Knob Noster, MO and William Lee Goodwin, of Warrensburg, MO; six grandchildren, Kyara S. T. Goodwin, Christopher T. and Samara R. Johnson, Tremaine D. Mitchell, Brionna D. Goodwin and Zaiyda Goodwin. In the Moorish American Community, Dr. Goodwin was well known as a scripture scholar readily propagating Right Knowledge, Right Overstanding and Right Reasoning. He was a member of the HTM, A.E.O. and A.M.O.M. Dr. Goodwin entered the world on April 20, 1947 in Washington Township, MO, to begin his spiritual mission. He attended grammar and high school in Knob Noster, MO. He went on to study under the guidance of the religious and spiritual leader and master of the Holy Tabernacle Ministries of New York and Georgia, Park University in Parkville, MO, and the University of the State of New York in Albany, NY. A 20 year veteran of the United States Army, Dr. Goodwin actively served three tours in Vietnam earning the Bronze Star as well as various other medals of commendation. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
