Our dearly beloved mother, Evangelina (Angie) L. Salas, 78, received her wings to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at her home in Denver, Colorado. Angie passed of a broken heart after losing her beloved husband Ruben G. Salas who suddenly preceded her in death by three months. She was a devout wife, mother, and grandmother and is survived by her three daughters Rachel Vasquez (Robert), Rebecca Trujillo, and Frances Trujillo, three grandchildren, Marcus Hinojos, Stephanie Cobos (Joshua), Levi Hinojos, and three great-grandchildren, Maya Hinojos, Enycia Hinojos, and Joshua Randel Cobos Jr. Angie is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ruben G. Salas, her parents Cornelio and Maria Landa of Odessa, TX; her mother and father-in-law Valentin and Helen Salas of Pueblo CO; her siblings Frances Landa, Juanita Macias, Lucinda Martinez, Silvia Romo, Conception Landa, Pedro Landa, and Cornelio Landa, Jr. Angie was born in Chicago, IL on May 11, 1945, and raised in Odessa, TX. She dropped out of school to get a job and help the family only to return to night school as a single mother of three and get her high school diploma after moving to Colorado. Angie spent most of her working career in the healthcare industry transporting cancer patients, working with Orthopedic surgeons, and retired as a Medical Records Administrator in 2000. Angie loved dancing, going to the casinos and traveling to see her family in Kansas and Texas. The family would like to send their extended thanks and gratitude to Lutheran Hospice Denver. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lutheran Hospice Denver at 3210 N. Lutheran Parkway, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 in honor of Ruben and Evangelina Salas. A rosary and funeral mass will be held in Evangelina’s honor at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 969 Ulysses Street, Golden, CO 80401 on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 9:30 am with burial to follow next door at Golden Cemetery Immediately after services.
