Mission Mortuary - Monterey
Evelyn Ruth Rosa
July 31st, 1943 - January 18th, 2017
Evelyn Ruth Rosa passed away peacefully on January 18th, 2017 from complications of cancer. Born Evelyn Ruth Moreno on July 31st, 1943 in Woodside, CA. she was the first born child to Mike & Ruth Moreno. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Cupertino, CA. where Evelyn was raised along with her five siblings; Nicole, Carlos, Yolanda, Olga and Grace. In 1962 at the age of nineteen Evelyn married Robert Rosa and they moved to the Monterey Peninsula where she would live and reside over the next fifty-four years and cherished every moment of it. She felt blessed to have had the opportunity to live on the Peninsula and often would comment that moving there was the best thing that ever happened to her. Upon first moving to the Peninsula Evelyn and Robert first resided in Seaside until 1973 when they moved into the current family home in Del Rey Oaks where she lived until her passing. In addition to working as a stay at home mom while raising son's David, Michael and Daniel, Evelyn worked from home providing Foster Care and Child Day Care services for over twenty years. She loved interacting and working with children and was very passionate and dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for those in her care and cherished her role in being a part of their development. Evelyn's hobbies were people and knowledge. She loved meeting people and learning about them and from them through shared stories and experiences. This love of people would bless her throughout her lifetime with an abundance of friends and meaningful relationships. She had a great thirst for knowledge and was a prolific reader of books ranging from a broad spectrum of topics. If you were engaged in a conversation with her more often than not she could recommend a book to you that she had read on the topic of discussion. Having spent much time going to school at a Catholic convent she was of course brought up and baptized as a Catholic. However throughout her adult life her thirst for knowledge lead her to become a student of all of Christianity and all religious faiths and she enjoyed studying and congregating in churches of all denominations. Her faith was deep and was the single most important thing in her life. Evelyn is survived by Robert Rosa her husband of fifty-four years, her son's David Rosa and Daniel Rosa, her father and mother; Mike Moreno & Ruth Moreno, her siblings; Nicole Moreno, Carlos Moreno, Yolanda Moreno, Olga Interiano, and Grace Graveline, and her grandchildren; Matthew Rosa, Jonathon Rosa and Holly Rosa. Evelyn was preceded in death by her son Michael Rosa who passed away in 2004. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the; CHOMP Hospice of the Central Coast 2511 Garden Road, Building A, Suite 50, Monterey, CA. 93940.
