Everett Leroy Chase was born in Kismet, Kansas, a small town in the southern part near Liberal. 3rd in birth order of eight children he had a great desire to construct things, although his Father was a farmer. At a very young age in his teens, he helped his Grandma build an addition on their small house in Kismet. That is when it all started, his desire to build bigger and better!! February 29, 1944 he was inducted into the United States Marine Corps, served most of his time in the South Pacific, WW 11, a time of national emergency. His character of service was excellent, was honorable discharged July 27, 1946. May 20, 1948 he married Polly Anna Duvall, they had 3 children in Kansas, Linda, Gary (whom is deceased) and Patricia and later a fourth child Mark, in Colorado after moving to Golden, Colorado in 1956. At that time he purchased two acres of land on highway 40 and started building what was known as the Chase Motel & apartments, fulfilling his dream. This took several years to complete because he had other projects as a contractor, building homes for special clients, may I mention he was very successful. People would wait for his availability due to his knowledge and his meticulous ways. He was very precise in his occupation and always completed his agreements. Throughout his years his reputation was honorable, just like his military separation documents stated. He was always a very proud man and rightfully so. He and his wife Polly Anna had their hands full raising their 4 children, working everyday to accomplish his goals. In earlier years he looked forward to his annual hunting trips to Burns, Colorado to get his annual elk !! He had the best of times with his buddies, riding their horses through the back country. Growing up we always had plenty of meat ! Everett was a wonderful husband, Father, uncle, friend, grandpa to all of us, most of all an excellent provider. He had a reputation of giving and not receiving. He told a story of a little Japanese man who was near him and fellow soldiers, that he would share his food with him when he was standing guard at night in Okinawa. Through out his life he was always giving and FORGIVING and would forfeit a lot to benefit others. He would literally give you the shirt off of his back. We are so very fortunate to be his daughters and sons, grandchildren, uncle and friend. We will always love him deeply, he will never be forgotten. He was an amazing man to all of us. Everett is survived by 9 grand children, 18 great grand children, and 1 great great grand child. numerous nieces and nephews and one brother, Jack Chase.
