Ewart Grant Lewis Sunrise August 28, 1927 Sunset May 4, 2017 Ewart Grant Lewis 89, of North Port FL. Formerly of the Bronx, NY, Ewart was born to Leanora Strachan and Elias Lewis in Grenada, West Indies on August 28, 1927. In 1968, he migrated from Grenada to New York, where he continued his career as an electrical engineer. After retiring to Florida in 1983, Ewart re-established himself as the House Engineering Manager at The Royal Palm Center in Port Charlotte. Ewart had a strong commitment to public-service and was always willing to assist anyone who could benefit from his skills. He was also an avid gardener, growing many tropical fruits and plants in his treasured garden. Ewart and Ruby enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 64 years. Ewart was a 4th Degree Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus and an Usher at San Pedro Church in Northport. He had a very strong disdain for the word “can’t,” no challenge was too great for him to overcome; he always persevered beyond expectations. Ewart is survived by his wife, Ruby; his daughter Deanne; sons Roland and wife, Marjorie, and Alister and wife, Althea, and his brother Cipriani. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Rayne, Jason, Janine, Justin, and Jasmine; and great-grandchildren Jayden, Jordon, Maisyn, Maliyah, and Liberty. As one of 12 siblings, he is survived by his brother, Cipriani. Preceding him in death were: daughter, Augusta; sisters, Rita, Irmin, Barbara, and Claire; brothers, Merlyn, Jocelyn, Crispin, Emmanuel, Albert and Alan. Ewart will also be missed by his cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and numerous friends around the globe. Visitation: Friday, May 12th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM at Farley Funeral Home North Port. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, May 13th at 11:00am San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, FL.
