F. Gertrude Batchelor Compton of Haines City, Florida passed away on December 12, 2017. She was 101. Gertrude was born on April 23, 1916 in Ozark, Alabama and moved from there to Haines City in 1936. She had owned and operated Gertrude Seamstress Shop in Haines City in the 1950's and had a long career in the citrus industry, She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Haines City where she was a member of the choir. She is remembered as a loving mother who was a great cook and had a love for her gardens. Gertrude is predeceased by her parents, William Edward and Nora Paul Andrews, first husband, W.O. "Curley" Batchelor; second husband, Ralph L. Compton; sons, Jerry W. Batchelor, Roger O. Batchelor; siblings, Travis Andrews, William H. Andrews and Willamay Cutchens. She is survived by her son, Richard D. Batchelor, Sr. of Lakeland, Florida; six grandchildren; many great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren and extended family. A visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 2pm until the funeral at 3 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City with Pastor Richard Dunaway of Westside Baptist Church officiating. Final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
