Florence "Granny" A. Mullis Slaughter

Florence A. "Granny" Mullis Slaughter, of Haines City, passed away surrounded by her family on December 28, 2017 at the age of 86. Florence was born on June 9,1931 in Cochran, Georgia to Hosey Mullis and Ora Purser. She was a member of the Winter Haven Worship Center in Winter Haven, FL, moved to Haines City in 1987 from Winter Haven, FL, and she worked as a sales associate at a clothing store. She was the matriarch of the family. Florence devoted her life to her family and she was a true southern lady. She loved to garden, cook and laugh with her grandchildren. Florence was famous for her biscuits and cornbread. If you had a meal at Granny's house you were family. She was also very active on snapchat and facebook. She loved reading what everyone had to say on facebook. She will be missed by her family and friends forever. Florence was preceded in death by her parents Hosey and Ora Mullis; her husband of 67 years of marriage, Jack J. Slaughter. She is survived by her two sons, Jerry (Pam) and Jim (Beverly); four daughters, Linda Brown, Barbara Pate, Teresa Loyed (David) and Angie Slaughter Crawford (Jimmy); one brother, Hosey Mullis; one sister, Peggy Hilliard; one brother in law, Bobby Slaughter (Janet); thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren and one on the way. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 12:00 noon with services at 1:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. Interment will be at Rolling Hills Cemetery in Winter Haven, FL.
