WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Florina S. Neal, 88, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, in the First Baptist Church of West Columbia, officiated by Dr. Bill Drees. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of West Columbia, For Such a Time as This, 400 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Neal went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Born in West Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Loney W. Summer and Effie Lou Creech Summer. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia where she was the secretary of her Sunday School Class, the Dorcas Love Class. She showed her love of children by working in the church Daycare for many years. Mrs. Neal was the "Backbone" of her family, she loved to cook and bake and take care of her family. She was loved and cherished by all and was a faithful and dedicated Christian. Mrs. Neal passed her values and beliefs to her children. Being the loving and caring mother, one of her favorite sayings was "love yourself and be yourself….love one another." Survivors include her children: Raymond C. Neal of West Columbia, Karen N. Hourihan (Gerald) of West Columbia, Sam Neal (Chris) of Chapin, Vickie N. Carter (Wayne) of Sellersburg, IN, and John W. Neal (Sonia) of West Columbia; sisters, Elaine Whiteside of Lexington, and Effie Lou Shipley (Bill) of West Columbia; nine grandchildren, Wayne, Rande, Kelli, Stacey, Scott, Stephanie, Ashley, Brandon and Stephanie; also ten great grandchildren, Erin, Zack, Josh, Bradyn, Holly, Ethan, Lauren, Briley, Sydnie and Brayden. Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Willard C. Neal, sisters, Mignon Paul and Ella Rose Lever and brothers, Rodney C. Summers, L.W. Summer, Jr., and Kenneth Summer.
