Francis L. Purcell
December 4th, 1938 - October 20th, 2015
Dr. Francis L. Purcell passed away on October 20, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Iron River, Michigan and lived in Kingsford, Michigan until 1936. Family lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he got his degree in Medicine in 1943. He served in the Army Medical Corps stationed in India. He came back to Ann Arbor in 1946 and returned to U. of M. for surgical training; in 1947 he married Germaine Purcell, a friend from H.S. in Kingsford. He was in private practice for 5 years and then joined General Motors as Medical Director until he retired in 1982 and moved to Nokomis in 1995. While in practice he served as President of the Washtenaw Co. Medical Society in 1978, President of the American Medical Assn. from 1980-1981 and President of Michigan Occupational Medical Assn. He is survived by a loving wife, six beautiful daughters; Nicolette, Therese, Colleen, Jane, Sara and Heidi and one brother, Philip. A memorial service will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:00PM.
