“Buzz” Freddie Lee Conway Buzz was born in Arvada, Colorado on October 7, 1945. He grew up in Craig, CO, and Sheridan and Gillette, WY and eventually moved to Commerce City, CO and raised his family in Northglenn and Thornton, Colorado. As a child he enjoyed conjuring up pranks with his buddies. He shared great stories of setting off explosives in mail boxes, shooting birds out of the cherry tree, stealing a life size stone lion statue from a park and placing it in the garage of a person who was on vacation (that story was on the front page of the paper!). Buzz served in the Army from October 21, 1965 through October 14, 1967 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals for National Defense Service, Expert Rifle and Good Conduct. On July 27th, 1976 he married Sharon June Pierce and together they raised wonderful children. With young kids, he was always a hard worker and had three jobs to provide for his family. He had a successful career at the city of Thornton for 31 years, many of those years as a mechanic. Buzz was always willing to share and teach how to fix something and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experiences. He was passionate about his hobbies which included gardening, cars, remote control airplanes, model trains, goose hunting, making arrows for archery, fishing, fly tying, cooking, listening to bluegrass and rock and roll music & having fun. He could often be heard teasing his grandchildren, saying “Come here, I want to lay one on ya”, with his fist in the air, and the grandchild places their head to his fist softly and with love. He had silly names and phrases for everything, and they were all said with a twinkle in his eyes and a smile on his face. (ie: “My mouth is so dry I am coughing up cotton and farting dust!”) He loved giving nicknames to family members, such as: Lou Lou, Pollack, Duck, Hooper, Brownie, Bubba, Gdog, Sizer & Little Red. Buzz went to the Lord on April 5th 2017 at age 71 after a long battle with heart and lung complications. He will forever live in our hearts and the memories will keep him alive until we meet him in heaven. Buzz is survived by his wife Sharon Conway, and his 5 children: Bert (and Anessa) Conway, Becki Conway, Christie (and Rob) Kaplinsky, Sharalee (and Boyd) Pederson, and Nadine (and Shane) Simpson; 14 grandchildren, Brendan Conway, Tristan Rogers, Nyco Berumen, Alyssa & Savannah Conway, Haley, Havannah & Hunter Arthur, Griffin, Noah & Faith Pederson, Peyton Moore, Luke & Kyra Simpson; two great grandchildren, Odin and Leo Moore and 4 sisters; Louise Seimers, Shirley Klassen, Kathy Wallace, and Jenny Anderson. He is preceded in death by his mother Fern Chartier Conway, father Fred F. Conway, and sister Linda Godfrey. Services are April 18th, Tuesday at 2pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery 3698 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80235 (please arrive by 1:45pm. enter Ft. Logan at North Gate, not main entrance, turn at first right to Staging Area A. Stay in vehicle at Staging area A until procession moves to place of service.) A celebration of life will follow from 4pm to 7pm at the American Legion at 11081 Irma Dr, Northglenn, CO 80233. Sandwich makings will be provided, please bring a side dish to share if you can! Memorial donations can be made to Denver Hospice, 501 S.
