Frederick "Pete" Harry Smith, Jr.

Frederick Harry “Pete” Smith, Jr., 89, of Ocala, FL, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Pete was born in South Hampton, NY to Frederick Sr. and Irene Smith. He was a US Navy submarine veteran, retiring as a Lt. Commander. He served on 8 submarines during his career. After naval service, he “went fishing”, operating as a lobsterman in New Hampshire. Pete was a nationally certified EMT instructor. He was a member of the US Submarine Veterans, Nautilus Base, and a Holland Club inductee. Pete is survived by his wife C. Ann Smith of Ocala, 3 sons; Frederick, Henry, and Alfred Smith, daughter Eliza Smith, sons Saverio and Robert Truglia, and daughter Donna Pellegrino, 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a sister Norma. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with military honors by the US Navy and the US Submarine Veterans, Nautilus Base. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Estelle’s Hospice House in Ocala, and/or Wreaths Across America.
