Gabor Siska
September 21st, 1937 - October 3rd, 2022
Gabor Siska, age 85, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2022. Born on September 21, 1937, in Kecskemet, Hungary, he escaped during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, immediately joined the United States military, and was proud to become an American citizen on May 30, 1963. He was predeceased by his father, Gabor Siska; mother, Ilona Siska; and brother, Miklos Siska. Gabor was a United States Army Veteran and a member of American Legion Lynchburg Post 16 for 41 years. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Siska; one son, Don Hulsey and wife, Anne; two daughters, Karen Beckett and husband, Jim; Michelle McClanahan and husband, Jimmy; five grandchildren-Daniel Hulsey, Jennifer Guilds, Brittany Beckett, Jonathan Beckett, and Ava McClanahan; six great-grandchildren-Lilly, Aria, Olivia, Autumn, Orson, & Blythe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by his sister, Marta Siska, and niece, Tunde Kocsis, in Hungary; and his brother’s family in El Paso, TX including Maggie Siska, Mickey Siska, Erika Picos, and family. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Diuguid Funeral Home-Waterlick Chapel by Lee Cannon, Minister, with Military Honors by American Legion Lynchburg Post 16. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 until 11 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Diuguid Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Lynchburg Post 16 or to Fort Avenue Church of Christ of Lynchburg.
