Gary “Butch” Hughes, 74, of Winter Haven, FL, passed away April 13, 2024. He was born December 3, 1949 in Burlington, NC to the late Burlie and Madge Hughes. Butch worshiped and trusted in the Lord and is most certainly with Him now. He loved his family deeply. He served his community for many years as a volunteer fireperson at North Lenoir Fire & Rescue. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge & a Shriner. He is survived by daughters, Caroline Neider (Brian), Marianna Hughes (Tammy Hill); grandchildren, Stephanie Jones, Steven Jones (Lauren), Allison Hill (Christian Covey); one great granddaughter, Carson Covey. Further, he is survived by stepchildren, Samantha Holland, Trey Holland; step-grandchildren, Noah Holland, Zoey Holland, Arya Holland. Additionally, he is survived by sisters, Sandy Rogers (Buddy), Brenda Grudzinski, Ann Luthy, Beverly Wolfgram. He is preceded in death by brothers, Billy Hughes, Red Hughes, Tommy Hughes; sister, Joan Barrows. He is survived by numerous nephews and nieces while being preceded in death by a nephew and 2 nieces. To respect his wishes, he will be cremated & there will be no service.
