Gary "Hoss" Thompson died on June 12, 2018. Born to Elgean and Jeanne (Dollimore) Thompson on August 18, 1943, he was raised in Pueblo, Colorado, and was a proud Central Wildcat and graduated from USC in 1967.Hoss and Sharon (Sirhal) were married on August 19, 1967, and moved to Colorado Springs where they've made their home. They have three children: Todd (Dawn) Thompson, Kelly Thompson Cline, and Ryan (Holly) Thompson, and six grandchildren, Brady and Emma Thompson, Bailey and Jonah Cline, and Brian Zambrano and Bradynn Wolfe.Through every circle of co-workers and career paths, Hoss left an indelible mark that speaks of diligence, loyalty, hard work, fairness and kindness. He taught at Corpus Christi Catholic School, coached at St. Mary's High School, moved to the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office and eventually became chief investigator. Hoss created Thompson Investigations with the help of his friend, John Salimeno, and it evolved into T.I. Probation Services which still serves the State Probation Department. To know Hoss was to know a gentle giant of a man. He could chastise and console, he drove a hard bargain, but was most generous. He was respectful, ethical, attentive to detail and loved to laugh. Hoss' life reached far and wide. He was a softball coach, golfer, railroad worker, beer truck driver, part of the Range Rider experience, card player, Santa Claus, jack of all trades at Rocky Mountain Greyhound Park, loyal Bronco and Rockies fan, throwing out the first pitch on Opening Day in 2012. Hoss was a "numbers man" and could keep an impeccable spread sheet or count cards at the blackjack table or the gin rummy game. He loved a good party and never turned down an opportunity to spend time with friends, at dinner or traveling to Italy. He was successful in his business and was proud of his ability to provide for his family and other people's families and he never took responsibility lightly. Hoss fought many battles head on and was an example of steadfast conviction and belief. His faith was an underlying catalyst for his goodness.Hoss treasured his family. He loved deeply and Sharon, his children and grandchildren are the beneficiaries of his love. The grandchildren were his "purpose" the last several years; he supported, hugged, believed in and loved them to the moon.Hoss is preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Ronnie and Donnie; and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren; brother, Tom (Donna) Thompson; sisters, Patty (John) Dalton and Mary Lynn (Merle) Miller; aunt, Doris Ann (Vern) Blanton; brothers-in-law, Mike (Debi) Richardson, Verle Steele, and Duane (Sandy) Sirhal.
