Gaylia Renee Harrell

October 18th, 1949 - May 6th, 2023

Gaylia Renée Harrell, beloved mother and friend, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. She died peacefully at her home in Longmont, CO, with her son and her best friend at her side. Gaylia was born on October 18, 1949, to Edwin Jerome Harrell and Thelma Juanita Harrell (née Drury) in Jacksonville, FL, and grew up in the area. She graduated from Ribault High School in 1967 and Elmhurst College in 1982, and was the widow of her beloved husband, Marc Dickey, whom she married in 1992 after moving to Colorado. She was an entrepreneur, owning or co-owning many small businesses during her life either herself or with Marc. She loved animals, and had many pets during her life that she loved spoiling with treats. Most importantly, she helped countless people with challenges they faced during their lives, whether it was how to pay for college or where their next meal would come from. She had a kind heart and will be sorely missed. Gaylia is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Juanita, and her husband, Marc. She is survived by her sons, David and William, and her grandchildren, Jon and Lydia. Gaylia requested no formal memorial service, but rather that her friends and loved ones remember and celebrate her life in their own ways, at a time and place that feels right to them, and preferably with ice cream.
