Gaylon E. Wood, Jr., passed away at Runk & Pratt Memory Care in Lynchburg, VA. On November 19, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was born on January 2, 1949 in Charlottesville, VA., the son of the late Gaylon Edward Wood, Sr., and Mary Wilkerson Wood. Gaylon graduated from Lane High School after which he served a tour of duty in U.S. navy. He was very proud to serve his country and as a veteran continued to support the military. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church in Charlottesville, VA. Gaylon retired from Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington, VA. as manager of the Lab. He was a member of the American Legion, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Scottish Clan, Keith. Gaylon enjoyed research in to his Scottish heritage and wrote an extensive history of his family and ancestors. He also enjoyed participating in the annual Scottish parade in Alexandria, VA. Gaylon is survived by cousins and other family members and friends who were all very special to him. He was especially fond of his West Highland Terriers and is predeceased by his treasured fur-baby, Duncan. A private graveside service will be held at Monticello Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, VA.
