Gene Allen Kiefer

Gene Allen Kiefer, 81, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Memorial Hospital Central. His daughter, Patty, was with him at the time of his death and had the honor to talk him through to the end with kisses and words of love. Gene was born in Fort Branch, Indiana to Paul and Carrie (Wirth) Kiefer on February 18, 1936. Gene married Agnes "Ann" Thomas on November 19, 1955 in Evansville, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 2003. He said that she was the love of his life and he always missed her deeply.Gene was survived by his son, Thomas A. Kiefer; daughter, Patricia A. Schultz; granddaughter, Jessica A. Kuhn; great-grandson, Jarrett K. Kuhn; and great-granddaughter, Jacqueline E. Kuhn. Gene was extremely proud of his daughter and granddaughter. He said they took after his wife, their mother and grandmother, Ann.Gene was a welder until he went to school and became a truck driver. He was hired right out of school as top of his class by ExxonMobil, whom he drove for until he retired.Gene loved the outdoors, especially fishing and golf.He had a compassionate heart for the less fortunate and many times gave, even when he had nothing extra. Gene was a great conversationalist. He was referred by those he met as a sweet man who was fun to sit and talk with.
