Gene McOmber
April 12th, 1944 - December 30th, 2010
Gene McOmber, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many, died peacefully in his home in Littleton, Colorado surrounded by his family on December 30, 2010. Gene was a strong man who fought a long and courageous battle against cancer. In early December, as his cancer progressed, he chose quality of life and signed on to Namaste Hospice. He was born in Great Falls, Montana on April 12, 1944 to Willis Gordon McOmber and Marian McOmber. He was preceeded in death by his mother Marian. He is survived by his wife Kathy McOmber, daughter Jackie Zinkgraf, son-in-law Adam Zinkgraf, honorary son Brian Goodwin, honorary daughter Britta Maloney (Kevin), father Gordon McOmber, brother Dennis (Elaine) McOmber, sister Sandra (Lenny) Taylor and many nieces and nephews. Gene left this world too young, however he enjoyed his time here. Gene spent many winter days snowmobiling with his friends and family. He loved working on cars personally and professionally. He owned his own service station and spent much time restoring his Model A. Gene loved cars so much he even raced when he was younger. As he got older he spent his weekends watching NASCAR. In later life he enjoyed restoring old tractors. He would go to auctions looking for tractors to restore and parts for the ones he had. Memorial Services are Monday January 10, 2011 at 2:30p.m. at Fort Logan Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, CO 80235. A celebration of life will follow the services at 4 p.m. at Celtic Tavern, 2620 W Belleview Ave., Littleton, Colorado 80123. All are invited to attend both. In lieu of flowers (or stink weeds as Gene would say) please make donations to the American Cancer Society in honor of Gene. https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/) “Love is stronger than death even though it can’t stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can’t separate people from love. It can’t take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death.” – Unknown
