George F. Briscoe, 75, of Englewood, FL died November 14, 2013. George was born May 14, 1938 in Haverhill, MA to Charlotte (Bradley) and Charles Briscoe. Many people knew George as ""Tomato George"" at the Venice Farmers market, where he sold produce since 1997 when the market began. Before working at the Farmers Market George was a captain of the South Venice Ferry. George and Judy moved to Englewood in 1989 after raising their three children in Livermore CA. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Judith; daughters, Beth Suchon, Susan Wade, and Laura Briscoe; grandchildren, Joey Briscoe, Jenny Wendell, Kyle Suchon, Jessica Morgan, and Katie von Berg and five great grandchildren. A Celebration of his life will be held at the large pavilion on Manasota Beach on Sunday December 8th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
