George Charles Hutchison

George Charles Hutchison, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, August 25, 2017 in his residence. George was born December 5, 1934 to Esther Lillian (Olsen) and George Sanders Hutchison in Superior. He was orphaned at age four, was raised in Superior, was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church in Superior where he was also active in Luther League. He graduated from Superior Central High School in 1952. George married Laurene Sarah Gjenste at First Lutheran Church in Duluth, on July 2, 1960. He enlisted and saw active duty service in the Air Force in the 148th Fighter Wing Unit and the Army in the 109th Light Maintenance Unit. He had served in Desert Storm and retired after 26 years of service to his country. George also received a Bachelors, Master of Education and Specialist in Education degrees from the University of Wisconsin Superior and had taught school and was a principal. He held several offices in educational organizations. George is lovingly survived by his wife of 57 years, Laurene; daughters, Jenni (Lee) Crum, Cari (Tim) Parchinski, and Patti (Tim) Anderson; his grandchildren, Clark Crum, Sarah Crum, Cate Parchinski, Annie Parchinski, Peter Anderson, Mary Parchinski, and Jolene Anderson; his sister, Patricia (Seegar Jr.) Swanson and sister in law, Cori (Ken) Mathews. At the family's request, no services will be held for George. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Esko.
