George Palmer Mickelson
February 20th, 1920 - October 28th, 2001
George Palmer Mickelson, 81, of Cloquet, died Sunday, October 28, 2001 in his home. He was born February 20, 1920 in Lawler, the son of John and Mary (Waisanen) Mickelson. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. George married Lois McEwen on December 12, 1949 in Aitkin. He was a millwright for Potlatch, retiring in 1982 after 27 years of service. George was a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club, Union Local #97 and a former member of Nicholson-Sellgren VFW Post 2962 of Carlton. He enjoyed repairing lawnmowers, saw filing, carpentry and furniture making. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lois of Cloquet; three daughters, Joy Mickelson of Minneapolis, Connie (Jeff) Jay of Cedar Falls, IA and Darla (Jeff) Johnson of Denton, TX; two sons, Terry (Shawna) of Scottsdale, AZ and Brian of Duluth; 9 grandchildren and a great grandson. Visitation was Thursday, November 1, 2001 from 1:00 until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Interment was Friday, November 2, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. in Salo Cemetery, Salo Township, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Hospice, c/o Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet, MN 55720
